2nd TEDx Talk: The Three Shapes Of Hunger

8 years ago, I stood on the TEDxOkumagbaAve stage and spoke about The Hunger Drive.

Back then, I believed hunger was the advantage.

And honestly… I wasn’t wrong.

Hunger made me start.
Hunger gave a young boy from Ozoro the courage to build myPadi, enter rooms he had no business entering, raise money, get press, and believe something bigger was possible.

But life has a funny way of completing your message.

Because after the applause, after the startup, after the funding, after the failure, after rebuilding from zero, after teaching thousands of African business owners, after entering the real trenches of commerce and now building Bizthom & Ejiro AI…

I came back to that same stage with a different truth:

There are three shapes of hunger.

And only one of them helps you build what stays longer.

At first, hunger is a fist.

It helps you fight your way out.
This one is raw, aggressive, selfish. Wants to survive. Wants to prove a point.

And when you appear to have survived.

Hunger changes shape to become a shield.

It makes you protect the small thing you finally got… even when life is asking you to build bigger. Fear becomes strategy. You choose comfort over painful growth. You're scared to fail. That fear drives only comfortable decisions. Eventually, the very things you dread happening, happens.


The shape that eventually makes you thrive?
Its when hunger becomes an open hand.

Responsibility.

The kind that says:
“I have seen too much to walk away.”
"Too many people need this thing to win and I have to do it"

It was this shape that got angry enough to begin to build Bizthom & Ejiro AI when I couldn’t watch how businesses continue to struggle.

That is the place I spoke from at TEDxOkumagbaAve 2026.

Not as the young founder trying to prove a point.

But as a man who has been shaped by hunger, fear, failure, market women, online vendors, students, customers, mistakes, survival, and responsibility.

My message was simple:

The shape that gets you out is not always the shape that takes you forward.

At some point, the fist must open.
The shield must come down.
And responsibility must begin.


And to everyone building from hunger right now, I respect you.

But don’t just stay hungry.

Stay responsible enough to see what needs to be built.

And stay foolish enough to build it even if it dosen’t immediately make sense.
